How is Show Me A Cure's Helping Hand funded?
Show Me A Cure is a totally volunteer organization and all SMAC programs are funded through the generous donations of our supporters and fundraising events.
How much in assistance does Show Me A Cure's Helping Hand provide?
Show Me A Cure's Helping Hand will provide up to not to exceed $1,000.00 for bills listed within the guidelines. It is important that these funds be available for families experiencing the greatest financial need. If selected SMAC reserves the right to pay all or some bills sent in with the application.
What does the grant provide assistance for?
Show Me A Cure's Helping Hand only provides assistance for the following,
- Mortgage/Rent
- Car Payments
- Utilities
- Car and Home Owners Insurance premiums
- Household Expenses
- Auto Repair
Who can qualify for Show Me A Cure's Helping Hand Grant?
Residents of Missouri who have been affected by ANY form of cancer no matter their sex, race, age, and ethnicity. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful, permanent residents of the U.S. who have maintained an uninterrupted residency in the State of Missouri for 12 months without prior history of the current illness. Non-citizen Missouri residents, applying for assistance, must have and provide Show Me A Cure with a photocopy (front and back) of their I551 card (green card).
When are applications reviewed for decision?
All applications will be reviewed monthly. All applications must be received by Show Me A Cure before the first Monday of the month to be considered for review that month.
How will I know if my application was accepted?
Please feel free to contact us if you have questions regarding the application. We will NOT discuss the status of your application, if you have been selected for the grant you will be contacted by a Show Me A Cure representative. If you were NOT contacted by a Show Me A Cure representative, you may file another application for the next months review.
Is anything needed from my Doctor?
In order to review the request for financial assistance, a hospital professional (physician or social worker) must send a letter of support.

Limit: One (1) requests per physician or social worker/per month.
Physicians and Social workers must include a current email address with their letter.
