Thank you for your interest in supporting Show Me A Cure in our fight against ALL cancers and promoting the gift of giving.

As a not-for-profit organization, Show Me A Cure relies on philanthropic funding to enhance and expand its operations, programs and services. Third-party fundraiser groups are generous supporters who host independent, 3rd party fundraising events in order to raise necessary funds and spread our mission. Third-party fundraiser groups play an important role in our success so that we can continue to extend aid to Missouri residents affected by cancer.

Currently, Show Me A Cure has several ways that monies raised by independent fundraisers would help us work towards our mission to find a cure for ALL cancers as well as to promote the gift of giving.

  1. We have all heard the phrase “it takes money to make money.” The same is true for any nonprofit organization. Although, Show Me A Cure is strictly volunteer, we have a general fund account that is used to host fundraisers and operate general business expenses.
  2. Show Me A Cure’s ‘Pedaling Out Cancer’ event is a family bike ride that will be held each year in the fall. All monies raised from this yearly event will always be dedicated to cancer research in the quest for a cure. A single beneficiary will be chosen each year by the SMAC board.
  3. Show Me A Cure has decided to step in a direction that others have not. In May of 2009 we launched a family outreach program called, Show Me A Cure’s Helping Hand. Our Helping Hand Program will offer financial assistance for everyday living expenses such as mortgage payments, utility bills, auto expenses, etc. to families affected by cancer. This program will help Missouri families get the help they need by cutting out the “red tape” and offering direct financial assistance to those who need it most.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have so much community support for our mission! We appreciate any and every offer to assist us with our fundraising efforts. It is, however, necessary for Show Me A Cure to approve all events in advance. This information package contains some general information about hosting an event and the Event Proposal form.

Due to the high volume of offers we receive, our Board of Directors reserves the right to limit the number of independent fundraising events we can approve each month. This is an important safeguard in preserving the integrity of the Show Me A Cure name, optimizing the contributions of our valuable sponsors and donors.

Please do not be discouraged if we are unable to approve your event at this time, as there are many opportunities to support our important mission. With 1 out of 3 people being diagnosed in their life time and over 1.3 million new diagnoses each year, the need to expand our reach grows more important every day and we welcome all the help we can get!

If you have any questions regarding your event proposal, please contact Matt Bay at

We sincerely appreciate your interest in becoming one of our third-party fundraiser groups and we look forward to working with you!

INDEPENDENT FUNDRAISER EVENT GUIDELINES

Show Me A Cure is proud of the distinctive reputation we have built in our first year as a nonprofit organization. As we continue to raise awareness for our mission it is important that all independent fundraising events complement the image we have worked so hard to establish. As one of our third-party fundraiser groups, we respectfully request that you be mindful of our mission and reputation by kindly adhering to the following guidelines when planning your event:

  • Events should complement and support the Show Me A Cure mission, image and brand identity. Potential organizers must complete an Event Proposal and submit to Show Me A Cure for approval.
Show Me A Cure will review all submissions and reply within 5 business days.
  • The organization and execution of events are the sole responsibility of the independent event organizers. Event organizers are responsible for securing all necessary permits, licenses, and insurance.
  • Event-related publicity or promotions in which the Show Me A Cure’s name or logo is used must be submitted to Show Me A Cure for approval in advance of release to the public. Show Me A Cure will review and respond within 48 hours of receipt. The official Show Me A Cure, Pedaling Out Cancer, and Helping Hand logos may not be altered in any way and we reserve the right to refuse use at any time.
  • Show Me A Cure may only be identified as the beneficiary of the event, rather than the event host or sponsor. For example, an event cannot be called ‘Show Me A Cure’ – rather it should be called an Event to benefit Show Me A Cure.
  • For legal reasons, if Show Me A Cure is not receiving all of the event proceeds, the public must be informed of the net amount that will be donated to Show Me A Cure. All promotional materials must clearly state the exact percentage of the proceeds and/or the portion of the ticket price that will benefit Show Me A Cure.
  • Show Me A Cure internal event planners strive to maintain event expenses at 10% of the total event revenue. We strongly encourage independent event organizers to budget in accordance with this standard.
  • Show Me A Cure requires a list of any donors/sponsors who are providing more than $500 in either financial or in-kind contributions so that we may acknowledge their generous support of our mission.
  • Please inform us of any media that will be covering the event (TV, radio, press) or providing, any type of post-event coverage.
  • Event proceeds should be submitted to Show Me A Cure within 30 days from date of event. Checks for event proceeds should be made payable to Show Me A Cure and dropped off or mailed to P.O. Box 2283, Florissant MO 63032-2283
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Board-approved third-party fundraiser group’s events will be posted on the Show Me A Cure website Upcoming Events Page.

For a limited number of events we can……
Post the event on our social networking sites such as Facebook and Facebook Causes page.

Send email blasts to our volunteer committee and past supporters.

Most importantly, we welcome the opportunity to incorporate important outreach work into your event. We can provide Show Me A Cure brochures or business cards, representative speakers to speak about Show Me A Cure and “schmoozers” to interact with event guests to promote our mission.

We apologize in advance, but unfortunately, there are a few things we are unable to provide:

  • Our tax-exemption number
  • Insurance or liability coverage
  • The Show Me A Cure mailing list and our contact database of donors, vendors, volunteers or other supporters
  • Marketing or promotional materials for the event
  • Funding or expense reimbursement
  • Bookkeeping, bank accounts or any other type of fund processing
(other than the final net proceeds)
  • Guaranteed attendance
  • Event Staffing
