Show Me A Cure is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money in the battle to find cures for ALL cancers and to promote the culture of giving.
Have you, a friend, or a loved one ever been touched by cancer? Everyday it seems that you hear of someone else being diagnosed, or worse, dying from cancer.
In 2001, founder Matt Bay's Mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. She is now a survivor and doing great. However, in 2007 Matt's family was hit hard once again by this nasty creature known as cancer when Matt's wife, Angie, was told that her Dad had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. They were told that it was too far advanced, inoperable, and incurable and that he had six months to a year to live. He fought a hard fight for more than six months and they lost him in 2008. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon story. Many families have been repeatedly affected by this multifaceted disease.
When Matt's Mother was diagnosed back in 2001, he mentioned that he would like to ride the Katy Trail to raise money for Colon Cancer research. Regretfully, life got in the way, and it didn't happen. But, when Angie's Dad was diagnosed, they realized it was time to stand up and do their part.
Matt and Angie set out to find family and friends who shared their feelings to help start an organization that is dedicated to raising money, mainly through a Katy Trail bike ride, to raise money to find a cure for ALL cancers, as well as promote the culture of giving. Show Me A Cure was initiated and officially received their 501c3 status in late 2008.
Everyone is affected by cancer in some way, and instead of sitting on the sidelines, we can all help fight this deadly disease. Whether it be a $25 donation or your volunteer hours, SMAC wants everyone to have the opportunity to feel they have contributed to the fight. The more people and organizations that work with SMAC, the more people we are going to be able to help.
So help us help you, and we will work together to help find a cure!
